Overview
All in all, Aristotle impacted argument when he first inspired authors and Roman teachers of rhetoric, such as Cicero and Quintilian, who carried on his legacy throughout history when his philosophy of rhetoric was incorporated into their teachings (Rapp, 2010). From his ethical appeal to his emotional appeal to his logical appeal, Aristotle paved the way for argument with his “laws” of rhetoric so that rhetoricians could not simply make empty claims to their judges and jury and be found guilty, but so they could and would prove such claims ethically and logically, all while persuading the court to find them innocent and join them.
